Overview

This Split to Dubrovnik mini cruise is a 2-night one-way leg down the Dalmatian coast from Trogir, for anyone who wants to travel between the two cities by sea rather than by bus or plane, or who has only a few days and still wants a small ship. It is the front half of a 7-night sailing sold separately, so the ship, crew, cabins and food are the same as the full cruise. Boarding is at Trogir, whose old town sits on its own small island between the mainland and Ciovo, a compact grid of marble streets with the Cathedral of St Lawrence and Radovan's Portal at its centre. The first call is Hvar, a town with a Renaissance cathedral that kept its original tower and the oldest community theatre in Europe, founded in 1612, with the Spanjola fortress above the rooftops looking over the Pakleni islands. The harbour bars run late in summer. Mljet National Park is the second night, where two connected saltwater lakes sit inside the park boundary and a small boat runs across to the twelfth-century Benedictine monastery on its islet. The lakes are warm enough to swim in from spring through autumn, and the shore path can be walked or cycled. The final leg runs down to Dubrovnik, and the approach from the sea is the best view of the walls anyone gets. Buffet breakfast and a three-course lunch are served daily, with swim stops in quiet bays and a cruise manager on board. Lower deck air-conditioned ensuite cabins. Departures are Saturdays and the leg runs only when the parent 7-night cruise is operating.
