Check-in from 11.00-12.30hrs. Departure at 13.00hrs (1pm) from Split Harbour. Please do not be late.
Day 1: EMBARKATION in SPLIT, then to MAKARSKA (L) - Departure at 13.00hrs sharp!
Jump on board and meet your Captain, crew and shipmates! Check-in is from 11am to 12pm and we aim to depart Split for Makarska at around 1pm and get the cruise started with lunch and a much-needed swim stop. We dock in Makarska late in the afternoon, giving you time to go around the town, enjoy a gelato and have dinner in one of the many restaurants, pizzerias and tavernas that line the promenade. Two of the most popular ways to spend the evening/night is either at the new Makarska observatory or at Club Deep, an amazing club in a cave directly on the beach.
# Included: Lunch onboard
Day 2: to MLJET NATIONAL PARK (Sipan/Slano) (B,L)
Our boat leaves early for the crossing to Mljet Island. After lunch, we will dock in either Pomena or Polace and have the rest of the afternoon free to explore this island’s stunning National Park and its lakes. There are several options for this exploration: hire a bike for a few hours and pedal your way around the lakes’ excellent cycle paths, hire a kayak for paddle-power or simply go for a hike. We also offer an optional 'mixed grill' Captain’s Dinner onboard this evening (either in Mljet or we might head over to Slano or Sipan island) as the setting is perfect.
# Included: Breakfast and lunch onboard
# Optional: Captain's Dinner onboard
# Optional: Entrance to Mljet National Park, bike or kayak hire
Day 3: to Elafiti Islands, then to DUBROVNIK (B,L)
With some gorgeous bays around Mljet, Slano and Sipan, we are spoilt for choice for a swim stop this morning. We then cross to Dubrovnik through the Elaphite archipelago of islands – a truly amazing sight. We arrive in Dubrovnik in the early afternoon, which gives you time for some must-dos, including a sunset walk around the famous walls and sampling a cocktail at one of the cliff bars as you watch the sun go down.
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in and around the Old City, as well as events at clubs such as Revelin. Overnight onboard in Dubrovnik, Gruz Harbour.
# Included: Breakfast and lunch onboard
# Optional: Dubrovnik Walking Tour or Zip-lining
(1) Dubrovnik is also the setting for the capital city of Westeros, Kings Landing, in Game of Thrones. If you are a fan, why not take a walking tour of the locations of the most famous scenes in the ultra-popular show and get an overview of the history of Dubrovnik at the same time? If you are not a GOT fan then we also have a dedicated Dubrovnik Historical Walk that focuses on the city’s non-fictional history.
(2) Close to where your boat docks in Gruz port, there is a secluded beach with a 250-metre long ZIPLINE! We can arrange transfer there and back, with a zipline ride (or 2!) included in the excursion
Day 4: in DUBROVNIK (B,D)
Whole day in Dubrovnik! To give you the convenience of not needing to return to the boat for lunch so that you can stay out in Dubrovnik, the included meals onboard for today are breakfast and dinner (not lunch, like the other days). As mentioned, dinner is included this evening and is served around 6.30pm. The evening is free afterwards to have a few drinks onboard, head back into Dubrovnik, or go to a few places around Gruz port (we recommend the amazing Dubrovnik Beer Company bar near the boat). If you prefer to stay out for the whole day and skip dinner onboard and head back later in the evening, that's ok too. Just head Overnight onboard in Dubrovnik, Gruz Harbour.
# Included: Breakfast onboard
# Included: Dinner onboard
Optional: There are so many things to do in this city. We recommend:
(1) Taking a cable car ride up to Mount Srd for the most incredible view imaginable.
(2) Dubrovnik is also the setting for the capital city of Westeros, Kings Landing, in Game of Thrones. If you are a fan, why not take a walking tour of the locations of the most famous scenes in the ultra-popular show and get an overview of the history of Dubrovnik at the same time?
(3) Take a shuttle boat over to Lokrum Island from the Old City.
Day 5: to KORCULA TOWN (B,L)
It's goodbye to Dubrovnik and hello to more incredible scenery as we head to Korcula Island, which is said to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. The Old City of Korcula (with the same name as the island) is another gem which hosts a small street party in the evening at the Deja Vu Bar! Overnight onboard in Korcula Town.
# Included: Breakfast and lunch onboard
# Optional: Wine-tasting tour, including wine tasting and snacks.
Day 6: to HVAR ISLAND (B,L)
Hvar Island is rated as one of the highlights of the trip and it’s not hard to see why. It boasts several gorgeous towns such as Jelsa (where we often dock), Stari Grad and Hvar Town itself. We arrive into Jelsa, Stari Grad or Hvar Town (if we are lucky enough to get a docking space there) after lunch, and if you fancy visiting other towns, you can easily take a bus or taxi (not included) as the town are only around 15-25 mins from each other. Hvar town’s nightlife is legendary and nothing beats catching the sunset at Hula Hula bar, then taking the organised shuttle boat over to Carpe Diem – the famous “club on an island”. Stari Grad’s old town is a delight to explore, with several cosy wine-bars to be found on its winding streets. Jelsa has a wonderful harbour and promenade and features a famous park that often has live, outdoor music performances and festivals. You are spolit for choice! Overnight onboard on Hvar Island.
# Included: Breakfast and lunch onboard
# IMPORTANT: Hvar Town's small port is often overcrowded in peak months (end of Jun to end of Aug) and the port authority may order the boat to dock elsewhere, such as Jelsa or Stari Grad, about 25-35 mins by bus from Hvar Town. The Cruise Manager will help you plan any necessary travel arrangements.
Day 7: to Pakleni Islands or Brac, then to SPLIT (B,L)
Our final, full day starts with a swim stop in the morning at one of the many Pakleni Islands near Hvar and we then continue past Brac Island over to the largest city on the Dalmatian coast, Split. In the afternoon, you have enough time to take in some of the inspiring sights of this city, including Diocletian's Palace, Mestrovic's "Gregory of Nin" statue and Bacvice Beach. If you fancy something more adventurous then we can also transfer you to/from Omis for a rafting excursion on the River Cetina. Overnight onboard in Split.
# Included: Breakfast and lunch onboard
# Optional: River Rafting in Omis
Day 8: SPLIT - Disembarkation (B)
After breakfast (7-8am) it is time to say goodbye to your shipmates and crew. Check-out is by 9am although you can leave earlier if you need to (for early flights, buses etc). The adventure does not need to stop here though as there is the option of an excursion to see the waterfalls of Krka National Park.
# Included: Breakfast onboard
B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner

How far in advance do I need to book?
Cruises: For our weekly small ship cruises with guaranteed departures we suggest you book as soon as your plans are in motion. All cruises are extremely popular especially during peak season, which is June, July, August, September and these dates can be booked out up to a year in advance, especially September. One-way cruises are particularly sought-after and tend to sell out first, so please speak to us first to ensure your cruise choice is available before booking any flight arrangements.
Escorted Tours: Escorted Group Tours with guaranteed departures are also best booked as early as possible to ensure your place on the tour, as spaces are limited to a set number of passengers. Once the tour is full that departure is closed for new bookings.
Island Hopping, Self-Drive, Self-Guided Cycling/Hiking and Independent or Private Tours: Independent tours are available most days of the week at any time of year, so if you're booking late these are a great option. They can also start or finish on any day of the week, so can be a great alternative to the cruises (that mostly depart only on Saturdays). You can check out our Island Hopper Tours and our active tours for some examples. If you can't find what you are looking for please make an enquiry on any of our tours and let us know what you need. We love creating custom tours with our clients.
What do the different ship categories mean?
Please see our Ship Descriptions page here, for all the information on Ship Categories, Deck and Cabin Descriptions.
What is half-board? What meals are included?
Half-board (HB): This means that 2 meals a day are usually provided, mostly it will be breakfast and lunch on cruises, and breakfast and dinner on escorted tours. Each cruise or tour will have meals listed on the daily itinerary, so that you will know exactly which meals are included. Some lunches or dinners are swapped occasionally, so that you may enjoy a wonderful gourmet experience with your fellow travellers, such as a Captain's Dinner on a cruise, or a wine-tasting and lunch on an escorted tour. For the remainder of your meals you will be able to dine anywhere you choose and you will be responsible for the cost of those meals. Your Cruise or Tour Director will be happy to recommend a good value and trusted eatery nearby at every location, or you can explore on your own.
Bed and Breakfast (BB): This means that only breakfast is included in your holiday. Most of our Independent Tours include breakfast only, so that you are not beholden to going back to your hotel for lunch or dinner as you are going to be exploring on your own. We think that flexibility with lunch and dinner gives you the best option for exploring Croatia and experiencing the local culture and cuisine.
Full-board (FB) is occasionally offered on cruises as an optional extra, but we do not recommend you take the full-board option unless you are really sure about it. A lot of the joy of the cruise and tour experiences is to dine in local restaurants, 'konobas' (traditional pubs) and bars, so that you can meet the people who live and work there. Why come all the way to Croatia only to eat on-board for every meal? There are so many fabulous (and even some famous!) eateries. Get out there and taste them!
What type of transport is used on the Island Hopper Tours? Local ferries and vehicle transfers
Local ferries: Local ferries are used between the mainland and the islands where possible. Most of these ferries are fast ferries (high speed catamarans). Our Island Hopper Tours include all ferry tickets, as well as delivery of the ferry tickets to your hotel, when we come to pick you up to take you to the ferry port. In some towns, where some hotels are in the pedestrian zone close to the ferry port (like Hvar), then you will be met at the ferry and directed to your hotel, with luggage assistance if required. If your hotel is outside the pedestrian zone you will be met at the ferry and taken to your transfer vehicle, with luggage assistance if required.
Transfers: Most Island Hoppers have private airport transfers included, and private transfers to/from the ferry ports on the islands. Some transfers will be shared transfers if there are others going to the exact same hotel at the same time and it is a short distance.
How fit do I need to be for my holiday?
Relaxation/cultural cruises and tours: On-board your cruise ship, you will need to be able to negotiate gangways and stairs and be able to step from ship to ship as the cruise ships are moored next to each other sideways and sometimes you need to step across to the next ship. You will be walking mostly on the cobblestone streets through the iconic cities and towns of the region. The excursions are best-suited to those who are capable of walking on uneven surfaces as many old cities and towns have limited totally flat surfaces that can accommodate wheelchairs or walking-frames. Please contact us to ask about your specific circumstances, as we are happy to help plan for your needs as best we can. Assistance will be provided on cruise ships to help you navigate getting on and off, but there are a few limitations. Please ask.
Cycling tours: Although almost completely flat this cycle tour is graded easy to moderate as the daily distance ranges between approximately 15-50 km. You will be biking mostly on the dedicated cycle paths alongside canals, rivers and through the iconic cities and towns of the region. This tour is well-suited to those who have never taken a cycling holiday before as it is flat and predominantly traffic-free and you also have the option of skipping the cycling and relaxing on board.
What happens if I can't attend an excursion?
It is possible to relax at your hotel, on the tour bus or on the boat at any time.
What happens if I can't cycle or hike a stage on an active holiday?
For cycling cruises: If you don't want to cycle it is possible to relax on the boat as it moves to the next port of call.
For cycling and hiking tours: If you don't want to (or can't due to illness or injury) cycle, hike or walk a stage, then we will make arrangements to have you transferred to the next stop on your itinerary so that you can continue with your holiday. Prices for transfers vary widely, so pricing will be provided on an 'as needed' basis only.
What equipment do I need?
Relaxation/excursion cruises and tours: You will need comfortable walking shoes, clothes for relaxing, your swimming costume, and a sunhat. Most cruises are fairly relaxed and casual clothing is fine for all meals, though you may want to take one nice outfit depending on where you wish to dine onshore.
Cycling cruises and tours: You will need comfortable sports shoes, comfortable clothes for cycling, waterproof jacket and trousers, a helmet and a sunhat. We supply a detailed packing list with your information pack.
