Mini-Cruise Croatia: Perfect Short Getaways on the Adriatic Sea

Experience the beauty of Croatia in just a few days with our specially designed short cruise adventures. These compact journeys provide an ideal way to explore Croatia's highlights when your time is limited. Our mini cruise options depart weekly from Split or Dubrovnik on set days, offering a perfect taste of Adriatic island-hopping.

Croatia mini cruises run 3, 4, 5 and 6 days between Split and Dubrovnik on small ships with up to 40 passengers. These are one-way voyages — you board in one city and finish in the other — on fixed departure days each week from May to October. If you don't have a full week but still want to cruise the Dalmatian coast, a short cruise covers the same islands and ports as the 7-night itineraries in a tighter timeframe.

Split to Dubrovnik — 3 and 4 Day Cruises

Two short cruise options run southbound from the Split area to Dubrovnik, both departing on Saturdays:

Southbound departures (Split / Trogir to Dubrovnik):

  • 3-day cruise (2 nights) — Saturday to Monday
  • 4-day cruise (3 nights) — Saturday to Tuesday

Both options depart from Trogir, a short transfer from Split Airport. The 3-day cruise is the shortest sailing available and works well for travellers connecting onward from Dubrovnik — whether to Montenegro, the Greek islands or a flight home. The 4-day adds an extra island stop and a full day at sea, giving a more rounded feel without adding a full week to your plans.

Dubrovnik to Split — 5 and 6 Day Cruises

Two options run northbound from Dubrovnik, both arriving in the Split area on Saturday:

Northbound departures (Dubrovnik to Split / Trogir):

  • 5-day cruise (4 nights) — Tuesday to Saturday
  • 6-day cruise (5 nights) — Monday to Saturday

These longer mini cruises cover more of the Dalmatian coast and visit several of the best-known island ports. The 5-day cruise is the most popular short sailing for travellers who want a genuine cruise experience without committing to a full week. The 6-day adds an extra night and another port of call.

Availability

Every mini cruise is part of a 7-night itinerary. The ships sail Saturday to Saturday between Split and Dubrovnik, and short cruise passengers join for one section of the route. A 3-day southbound departure boards on Saturday in the Split area and disembarks in Dubrovnik on Monday, for example, while the remaining passengers continue the full week.

This means cabin availability for short cruises is whatever hasn't already been booked by 7-night passengers. Availability is always limited — typically only a handful of cabins per departure. Groups of 4 or more rarely find space on these sailings. If you're considering a mini cruise for peak season (June to August), get your enquiry in early.

Questions About Croatia Mini Cruises

What does "mini cruise" mean in Croatia?

It can mean two things. On this page it refers to a short cruise of under 7 nights — anywhere from 2 to 5 nights (3 to 6 days). But "mini cruise" also describes the size of the ship. Croatian small ships carry a maximum of 40 passengers, compared to 6,000 or more on large international cruise liners. Every cruise we sell is "mini" in both senses — short or standard durations on small ships.

How many days are Croatia mini cruises?

Our short cruises run 3, 4, 5 or 6 days (2 to 5 nights). The 3-day and 4-day options sail southbound from the Split area to Dubrovnik. The 5-day and 6-day options sail northbound from Dubrovnik to the Split area. All operate on fixed departure days each week.

What is included on a mini cruise?

Half-board meals (breakfast and lunch daily), cabin accommodation with en-suite bathroom, an English-speaking cruise manager, guided walking tours at key ports, and daily swim stops. Dinners are not included — you eat ashore at whichever port the ship is docked in that evening, which is one of the best parts of the experience.

Can I combine a short cruise with other travel in Croatia?

Yes, and this is the main reason people book them. A 3 or 4 day cruise from Split to Dubrovnik pairs naturally with time in either city, a land tour, or onward travel to Montenegro or the Greek islands. The 5 or 6 day northbound option suits travellers who fly into Dubrovnik and want to finish in Split for a flight home or further travel along the coast.

How far in advance should I book a Croatia mini cruise?

As early as you can. Mini cruise cabins are whatever remains after 7-night passengers have booked, so availability is always tight. Peak season departures (June and September) often sell out 12 months ahead. We can hold a cabin without obligation while you finalise your plans — just get in touch.

Is a 4 day cruise long enough to see Croatia?

A 4-day cruise covers the route highlights between Split and Dubrovnik with port stops and island visits along the way. It won't cover every island, but it gives a genuine taste of Dalmatian cruising on the same ships used for the full 7-night voyages. If you have the time, a longer option will always show you more.

Looking for a Full Week?

If your schedule allows, our 7-night one-way cruises are the most popular option — Saturday departures between Split and Dubrovnik in both directions. We also offer 7-night round-trip cruises that start and finish in the same port.
