This eight-day boat and bike cruise loops out from Athens to explore the Saronic Gulf and the storied shores of the Peloponnese, a region layered with more than two thousand years of Greek, Roman, Venetian and Ottoman history. The riding is gentle here, mostly rolling terrain, making it well suited to cyclists who ride regularly but prefer longer, relaxed days in the saddle. The week opens on Poros, nearly circled by bike and ending at Russian Bay, a turquoise cove made for a swim, before you cross to the Peloponnese mainland at Galatas. From there the route runs through fertile farmland to the coastal town of Ermioni and on to Porto Heli. Spetses, named by the Venetians for its wild herbs, is ringed by an almost traffic-free panoramic road scented with thyme and sage, with long swim breaks along the way. On Hydra, where donkeys have always been the only transport and no cars are allowed, you explore the elegant harbour on foot before sailing to the volcanic Methana peninsula, its many craters and sulphur springs giving the air a distinct tang. The final rides return to Aegina, celebrated across Greece for its pistachios, climbing to the beautifully preserved temple of Aphaia high above the sea and passing the monastery of Saint Nektarios before the last crossing back to Athens. Throughout, a comfortable deluxe motor yacht serves as your floating base, with unlimited use of e-bikes to smooth the climbs and quiet anchorages each night. Expect a week that balances archaeology and island character with plenty of swimming and unhurried time on deck, an accessible introduction to the Saronic islands and the Peloponnese coast by bike and boat.
