This eight-day e-bike and boat cruise loops round trip from Skiathos through the wooded Sporades and on to the Pelion peninsula, a green, film-famous corner of Greece where Skopelos, Skiathos and Pelion all stood in for the islands of the Mamma Mia movies. Beyond the Hollywood connection, this is simply one of the country's most scenic archipelagos: pine forests running down to the sea, quiet harbours, traditional mountain villages and a string of superb beaches and bays. After a first warm-up ride on Alonissos up to its old capital of Palaia Chora, a fuller day explores the island's ecotourism heart, from the Caribbean-coloured sands of Chrysi Milia to Agios Dimitrios beach, with the crossing to Skopelos passing through a protected marine park that shelters the rare Mediterranean monk seal. Skopelos itself delivers dramatic mountain panoramas, evergreen forest and a ride out to the Cape Gourouni lighthouse, with an optional detour to the clifftop chapel where the film's wedding was set. The route then reaches Evia, Greece's second-largest island and one of its best-kept secrets, for a ride through fertile plains and rural villages, before the Pelion peninsula and the car-free islet of Palaio Trikeri, reached by water taxi, with its monastery and quiet swimming coves. A final coastal ride along Pelion's deeply indented shore, capped by a monastery visit and a hillside winery, precedes the crossing back to Skiathos. Daily rides run to around 34 to 40 kilometres over hilly terrain, with e-bikes smoothing the climbs for confident cyclists. Nights are spent aboard a comfortable motor yacht in changing harbours, with fragrant pine, fresh Greek cooking and swim stops throughout. It is a varied, forest-and-sea week in a region that stays uncrowded despite its fame.
Route: Skiathos, Alonissos, Skopelos, Euboea, Pelion, Palaio Trikeri, Skiathos
